Terms of Service
Last updated: July 19, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern Your access to and use of The Two Society website, apps, and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account, checking acceptance boxes during onboarding, or using the Service, You agree to these Terms. If You do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
The Two Society (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates a membership platform that helps adults find hosted city meetups and curated small-group trips with identity-confirmed members. We are not a travel agency, airline, hotel, tour operator, or insurer. Members book their own travel and lodging unless a host expressly states otherwise for a specific gathering.
2. Eligibility (18+)
The Service is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, verify identity, claim membership, RSVP, join a trip, host, or register as a guest. We require a date of birth during registration and may refuse, suspend, or terminate accounts that appear underage or that provide false age information. Parents or guardians who believe a minor has used the Service should contact us at hello@thetwosociety.com.
3. Accounts and identity verification
You are responsible for the accuracy of information You provide and for keeping Your login credentials secure. Before RSVPs and trip joins, You must complete identity verification (typically government ID and selfie) through our verification provider. Verification confirms that a real person is associated with the account. It is not a background check, criminal-records search, or guarantee of anyone's character or safety. When Your ID includes a date of birth, we use it to confirm You are at least 18 and may update Your profile date of birth to match the ID. Large mismatches between the date You entered and the ID may cause verification to fail.
Your public member photo must be a recent, recognizable photo of Your face. We may remove photos that violate our photo rules and may pause access until a compliant photo is approved.
4. Membership and founding seats
Paid membership (currently billed monthly or yearly) unlocks ongoing meetup and trip access after identity confirmation, subject to these Terms and our community guidelines. Founding seats, when offered, provide membership benefits without a paid subscription for the period described in the offer, while seats remain and eligibility rules are met. Founding and paid benefits may change prospectively with notice on the Service.
Verified users without membership may receive a limited intro meetup experience as described in-product. Intro access is not a guarantee of ongoing access.
5. Gatherings and soft affinity filters
Gatherings may be labeled women-focused, men-focused, or open. Those labels are optional browse filters only — every verified member can view and join every gathering.
The Two Society is not a single-gender or women-only society. Soft affinity labels help members browse. They do not create segregated eligibility, and hosts may not use the Service to unlawfully discriminate. We may remove gatherings or accounts that misuse focus labels to harass or exclude in bad faith.
6. Hosting
Hosting city meetups or trips is by application or invitation — not an automatic paid upgrade. Approved hosts must follow our guidelines, publish accurate gathering details, and treat attendees with respect. We may revoke hosting privileges at any time.
7. Messaging and conduct
Messaging is scoped to meetup and trip contexts. Cold DMs and spam are not allowed. Optional 1:1 messaging may unlock only after mutual check-in rules described in-product. You agree not to harass, threaten, stalk, scam, sexually solicit, impersonate others, or share others' private information without consent. Repeated no-shows without canceling may pause RSVP privileges.
8. Payments and cancellations
Membership fees are processed by our payment provider (currently Stripe). Taxes may apply. Unless required by law or stated otherwise at checkout, membership fees are non-refundable once a billing period begins. You may cancel future renewal in account billing settings; access continues through the paid period already purchased. Gathering attendance fees, if any, are separate from membership and disclosed by the host or in-product when applicable.
9. In-person meetings and assumption of risk
Meetups and trips involve meeting people in the real world. You assume the risks of travel, lodging, transportation, and in-person interaction. We do not supervise gatherings, vouch for members beyond the product controls described on our Safety page, or guarantee that anyone is safe to meet. Use ordinary judgment: meet in public first, share plans with someone you trust, and leave if something feels wrong.
10. Content and license
You retain ownership of content You submit (profile text, messages, ratings, photos You upload). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and use that content as needed to operate and improve the Service. You represent that You have the rights to submit it and that it does not violate law or others' rights.
11. Reports, enforcement, and termination
You may report and block members. We review reports on a best-effort basis with human owners watching the queue. We may warn, restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts; remove content; or refuse service for violations of these Terms, guidelines, or law — or to protect members and the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time.
12. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT IDENTITY VERIFICATION MAKES ANY MEMBER SAFE TO MEET.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR FROM IN-PERSON MEETINGS ARRANGED THROUGH IT. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR MEMBERSHIP IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100).
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from Your use of the Service, Your content, Your gatherings, or Your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
15. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal information. By using the Service, You also acknowledge that policy.
16. Changes
We may update these Terms by posting a revised version on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated in-product or by email when appropriate. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, excluding conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protections in Your place of residence provide otherwise. Courts in San Francisco County, California, will have exclusive jurisdiction for disputes that are not resolved informally, except where prohibited.
